Thankful in Novemeber

Many of my Facebook friends are doing "Thankful in November" statuses for each day of the month.  I have no plans of updating my status each day to tell 400 people (most of which I would consider acquaintances) what I am thankful for but I think it is a nice thought.  So, I decided that I would try to post blogs this month about somethings that I am thankful for instead.  By the end of the month I will not have anything close to an exhaustive list (I really am thankful for so much!) but I think it is a good idea to really think about what you are thankful for in your life, so I will.

Today, I am thankful for HVAC units.  I woke up this morning around 4:30 to an odd humming noise.  It was my furnace.  The heat was no longer blowing and the motor was just running and running.  So I turned it off and went back to bed.  It was 66 degrees when I woke up this morning (which didn't feel too bad, I usually keep it around 68ish anyway).  It's about 56 degrees here today and it is rainy and kind of windy but it is by no means freezing. I'll take this as a gentle reminder to not take my heat for granted (or AC either).  It could have been super cold today and I could have had to wait a while to have it fixed (the furnace man just left, so I only technically went without heat for about 8 hours) or I could not have any HVAC unit at all. So on this dreary November day with winter looming ahead, I am snuggled on the couch with a blankie just because I like it, not because I need it, and I am thankful for heat.

Today I am also thankful for weekends, mine technically doesn't start until tomorrow this week because of a silly added class but it is so close I can taste it.

I am very thankful for my sister's dog Shortcake.  She had surgery this week.  As far as I know it went well and she is home recovering.  Shortcake is like my Saster's child and she provides her with a lot of company since she is so far from home and living alone.  So, I'm really happy that she is okay!
'Cakes in her "cone of shame" on her way home!

Look for more thanks to come throughout November!
